Gylfi Sigurdsson rescues point for Tottenham Hotspur

A late goal from Gylfi Sigurdsson secures a 2-2 draw for Tottenham Hotspur from their clash against Everton.

Gylfi Sigurdsson struck three minutes from time to rescue Tottenham Hotspur a 2-2 draw from their home encounter with Everton in the Premier League this afternoon.

The home side got off to a positive start when Emmanuel Adebayor turned in a cross from Jan Vertonghen with just 39 seconds on the clock.

However, the visiting Toffees ensured that the scores would be level at the break when England international Phil Jagielka got up above Vertonghen to head in a corner from Leighton Baines.

Everton began the second half the brighter of the two sides and went on to take the lead for the first time with 54 minutes on the clock. It was a solo goal from Kevin Mirallas, who beat three Spurs defenders before slotting the ball into the net.

Tottenham's response to falling behind was positive and they almost equalised immediately through Moussa Dembele, but his shot was turned onto the crossbar by Tim Howard.

The hosts continued to push forward, but it appeared that their efforts were going to go unrewarded.

However, in the 87th minute Adebayor's shot struck the post, but the rebound fell to the feet of Sigurdsson and the Icelandic international turned it in from eight yards out.
