Garry Monk considering permanent Tom Carroll deal

Swansea City boss Garry Monk admits that he is planning to talk to Tottenham Hotspur about a permanent deal for Tom Carroll at the end of the season.

Swansea City boss Garry Monk has revealed that his side will speak with Tottenham Hotspur at the end of the season to try to make Tom Carroll's loan spell a permanent move.

The 22-year-old joined the Swans last August on a season-long loan deal after finding first-team opportunities limited at White Hart Lane.

Carroll has managed to impress Monk in his brief time on the pitch, making 15 appearances in all competitions in the campaign, which has led the Swansea manager to consider signing the midfielder on a permanent deal.

Monk told Wales Online: "It's not something we have discussed yet – but we are not averse to it.

"We have spoken about Tom's progress here and he has done well for us. He is young, has great potential, but we will likely talk more towards the end of the season to see if there are any options towards a longer deal.

"I have not spoken to Tom about it as I do not want him to have any distractions. I want him to worry about his football. Come the end of the season we need to hear from him and both clubs so we will assess it then."

Swansea completed the signing of Kyle Naughton from Tottenham on Thursday.
