Sunderland are reportedly prepared to sell Josh Maja during the January transfer window, with the forward having just over six months remaining on his contract.

Sunderland have reportedly decided to cash in on Josh Maja during the January transfer window.

The 19-year-old has come through the youth team at the Stadium of Light to establish himself as a key part of the senior ranks, with 12 goals being scored from 20 appearances in League One during the current campaign.

However, the youngster has just over six months remaining on his contract, and it has left Sunderland in a position where they must consider a sale at the midway point of the season.

According to The Mirror, the Black Cats have opted to offer the forward out for a fee of £1.5m, aware that foreign clubs could potentially sign Maja on a pre-contract agreement from January 1.

Sunderland are likely to prefer doing business with a domestic team, and Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton have all been linked with the prospect in the past.
