Sunderland interim boss Eric Black says that the club need focus on performance in their "difficult time" following the sacking of Steve Bruce.

Sunderland have confirmed that Eric Black will take charge of the Black Cats for the side's Premier League fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday.

The North East club also announced that a statement regarding the search for Steve Bruce's replacement will be released shortly.

"It is important that everyone is focused on the game and prepares in the right manner so that's what we'll be concentrating on today and tomorrow," Black told the club's official website.

"Naturally it's a difficult time for everyone at the club but we have to be professional and get on with the job in hand."

Martin O'Neill is tipped to take over from sacked Bruce.
