Sunderland boss Paolo Di Canio believes that his side will survive in the Premier League this season with a win over Stoke City on Monday.

Sunderland boss Paolo Di Canio believes that his side will stay in the Premier League if they beat Stoke City on Monday.

A victory will see the Black Cats move to 40 points and will lift them to 11th in the table.

He told reporters: "I know why it happened but we have to make sure it doesn't happen again.

"When I came here, I said we will decide our future against Stoke and Southampton at home. If we win on Monday, then we will probably stay up."

Sunderland are currently 17th in the Premier League after 35 games this season.
