Freiburg striker Papiss Cisse has confessed that he is "flattered" by speculation linking him with a move to Sunderland.
Black Cats manager Martin O'Neill is reportedly keen to add a striker to his squad this month, with Asamoah Gyan unlikely to return from a loan spell in the Middle East.
Cisse is believed to be his number one target and the 26-year-old has welcomed the link.
"I'm flattered by the interest of Sunderland and other clubs," he told Sky Sports News. "I'd like to one day play in England.
"I love the Premier League and want to make my name there like my mate Demba Ba is doing with Newcastle at the moment.
"My German club Freiburg has their say as well and I have big respect to that club who made me who I am today."
Cisse joined Freiburg in 2009 from French club Metz.
