Sunderland confirm that the trio of Modibo Diakite, Cabral and Valentin Roberge will join the club on free transfers in July.

Sunderland have confirmed the signings of Modibo Diakite, Valentin Roberge and Cabral.

The players will join the Black Cats on free transfers at the end of their current contracts in July.

Diakite, who plays at centre-back, will arrive at the Stadium of Light from Lazio as Paolo Di Canio's side beat off competition from several teams to land the 26-year-old.

Fellow defender Roberge joins Sunderland from Portuguese side Maritimo, while midfielder Cabral makes the switch from Basel.

The Black Cats recently announced that Roberto di Fanti has taken the role of director of football at the club and Valentino Angeloni has become chief scout on Wearside.
