Preview: Blackburn Rovers vs. Swansea City

Sports Mole previews the FA Cup fourth-round match between Swansea City and Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.

Swansea City will be hoping to put their heavy Premier League defeat to Chelsea behind them when they travel to Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup this weekend.

Garry Monk's side were thrashed 5-0 at the Liberty Stadium last Saturday, handing the team their first defeat of 2015.

The Swans will be hoping that they can put in another performance like the one that ousted Tranmere Rovers in the third round of this competition, which saw the Welsh side score six goals.

The visitors will be without Wayne Routledge, who was on the scoresheet in the last round, as he is ruled out with a calf injury, while captain Ashley Williams is likely to be rested as a precaution after picking up a shoulder knock.

However, Jefferson Montero has been back in training for the first time since injuring his hamstring on Boxing Day, and the club says that he is available for selection, while Leon Britton could also feature after overcoming a groin strain.

Meanwhile, Blackburn will attempting to reach the fifth round for the second time in three seasons when they host the Premier League side on Saturday.

The cup could be a welcome distraction for Gary Bowyer's men, as they are without a win in four matches in the Championship, which has dropped them to 10th in the table.

However, they head into this match on the back of a 1-1 draw with Wigan Athletic last weekend, and will be confident after knocking out Charlton Athletic in the last round.

The manager has indicated that defender Tommy Spurr could feature for the first time this season after coming through an Under-21s match as he returns to fitness following a groin injury that has plagued him since pre-season.

Striker Rudy Gestede sat out last week's trip to the DW Stadium, but is available for selection again this weekend after returning to training following a minor injury.

These two sides last faced each other in the 2011-12 season, each winning their home matches.
