Bob Bradley: 'Swansea City lacked confidence at Stoke City'

Swansea City boss Bob Bradley claims that his side lacked confidence and were second best in their 3-1 Premier League defeat at Stoke City on Monday night.

Swansea City manager Bob Bradley has described his side's display in their 3-1 defeat at Stoke City on Monday night as "lacking confidence".

Former Swans striker Wilfried Bony struck his first goals for his new club either side of an Alfie Mawson own goal, with Wayne Routledge's eighth-minute strike ultimately proving to be in vain.

Bradley told BBC Sport after the match: "We had some good stretches but overall we lack confidence and in key moments we were second best tonight.

"There is no easy solution to getting confidence back. When you are going through a bad stretch you have to have belief. It was 1-1 at half time but we didn't start the second half in a way that suggested we could win the game."

Bradley was also unhappy with a late incident where an Erik Pieters foul on Routledge prompted referee Michael Oliver to award the Swans a penalty, only for the decision to be changed to a free kick after consulting the linesman.

The American said: "It can be given as a penalty, it continued into the box. The referee could have stood by his original decision."

The result keeps Swansea 19th in the Premier League table.
