Britton: 'I need to freshen things up'

Leon Britton hopes that his management style will help "relax" his Swansea City players, as he seeks a much-needed win against Crystal Palace this weekend.

Swansea City interim boss Leon Britton has revealed that he intends to "freshen things up a little" at the Liberty Stadium during his time in charge.

The 35-year-old will be in the dugout this weekend for the Swans' relegation six-pointer against Crystal Palace and may also be tasked with seeing through the rest of the year.

Britton has already distanced himself from the job on a permanent basis, but the Swans' search for a replacement to Paul Clement may take some time.

Speaking to talkSPORT, the fan favourite admitted that he is looking to draw on his experience from inside the dressing room to get the best out of his players.

"We will try and freshen things up a little bit in terms of training, doing things a little bit differently, and hopefully the players will relax more," he said.

"I have had three or four weeks of experience behind the scenes with the coaching staff to see how they go about their daily business and prepping for training and games, I have got experience of different managers and being a player for the last 17, 18 years so I need to draw on that experience.

"Yes, it is a difficult situation for everyone involved in the football club but I think I can handle it for the time being. How long that is, I don't know. The chairman has mentioned it will be on a day-to-day timescale and we will see where we are after the Palace game."

Former Ajax assistant coach Dennis Bergkamp is the latest name to have been linked with the vacant Swansea job.
