Garry Monk criticises Swansea City away performances following consecutive defeats

Garry Monk criticises his Swansea City side for failing to perform well in their last two Premier League away games.

Garry Monk has lambasted his Swansea City side for failing to perform well in their last two Premier League away games.

The Swans lost to Watford earlier this month and were beaten 3-1 away at Southampton on Saturday, with Monk now unhappy with his players as a result.

"It was very disappointing. We did not perform well enough," he told reporters. "That's two away games now where we have been well below our usual standards. That's not good enough for us or for myself. It is something that we have to put right. We have to cut outside the silly mistakes.

"Look at this game and the Watford game, we are just making uncharacteristic decision making and errors that we never do. That proves costly at this level, Their goals came from individual errors and poor decision making. We got punished, the last 20 minutes we came back into the game and got a goal, but by then the game was pretty much done.

"It's been about us not being at the right levels. We are making errors which is uncharacteristic because we've shown already this season the standards we can reach. We have to keep consistent. These last two away games have just not been good enough. It's up to me to assess things and make sure they are right for the next game away."

Swansea are currently 11th in the Premier League, and are next in action at home to Tottenham Hotspur next Saturday.
