Uruguay striker Luis Suarez has taken part in a full training session today for the first time since undergoing knee surgery last month.
The 27-year-old, who scored 31 goals for Liverpool in the Premier League last season, was initially a doubt for the competition after having an operation to rectify the injury.
However, Suarez has stepped up his recovery and is almost certain to be fit to face Costa Rica in Los Charruas' opening Group D game on Saturday.
Meanwhile, fellow striker Diego Forlan has also been passed fit to play a part in Uruguay's opener after overcoming a stomach bug.
