The club tweeted a quote from president Manuel Llorente that said: "We have been exchanging views, debate, and we made the decision to dismiss Mauricio Pellegrino."
Tonight's loss left Los Che in 12th position in La Liga, 22 points adrift of league leaders Barcelona.
