Gary Speed's family express their gratitude for the "overwhelming support" following the 42-year-old's death.

The late Gary Speed's agent Hayden Evans has released a statement on behalf of the Wales manager's family following the 42-year-old's apparent suicide.

Evans, who was Speed's best man for his wedding, was speaking outside of the home in Cheshire where Speed's body was found yesterday morning.

"Gary's family would sincerely like to thank all the people who have sent messages of condolence and tributes, in what is a very difficult time," Evans said.

"We've been overwhelmed by the support, it really has helped. We would ask that the family are now given the respect of some privacy to just grieve on their own."

An inquest will take place tomorrow afternoon at Warrington Crown Court.
