Walsall striker Craig Westcarr hopes to sign a new deal with the League One side.

Walsall striker Craig Westcarr has admitted that he hopes to sign a new contract with the League One side.

Westcarr, who scored five goals in 16 league games after joining permanently in January, is now out of contract but wants to work out a deal with Dean Smith.

"It's up to the manager really and what he offers," Westcarr told the Express & Star.

"At the minute, I am here training but I have got to sit down with the manager. I would like to stay. Hopefully, we can sort things out sooner rather than later - you can't stick around for too long.

"I just need to wait for the manager so we can sit down and try to sort something out this week, or that's it probably."

Westcarr previously played for Chesterfield.
