West Bromwich Albion midfielder Steven Reid is close to signing a new contract at The Hawthorns, according to reports.

West Bromwich Albion midfielder Steven Reid could remain at The Hawthorns for another year, according to reports.

It had appeared that Reid was likely to leave the Baggies after he thanked the club's fans for their support on Twitter earlier in the week.

However, according to the Birmingham Mail, the 32-year-old has held positive talks over a new short-term deal in the past few days, and it is expected that he will opt to stay at the West Midlands outfit.

Crystal Palace, Ipswich Town and Millwall had expressed an interest in signing the Republic of Ireland international.
