West Bromwich Albion has given New York Red Bulls centre-back Tim Ream a chance to impress the Baggies with a trial at the Premier League side.
The USA international, who will meet up with the squad next month, could be offered a loan deal with an option to sign a permanent contract, according to The Mirror.
While boss Roy Hodgson is believed to be keen on the 24-year-old, reported interest from Bolton Wanderers could scupper their plans to sign him.
Meanwhile, Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha is also on the Baggies' radar.
