James Tomkins tips Aaron Cresswell for England place

James Tomkins suggests that West Ham United teammate Aaron Cresswell should be considered for England following Luke Shaw's injury.

James Tomkins has suggested that West Ham United teammate Aaron Cresswell should be considered for the England squad following Luke Shaw's injury.

The Manchester United left-back is out of the remaining Euro 2016 qualifiers after suffering a double leg break in the Champions League defeat to PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday.

Tomkins has admitted that while he feels sorry for Shaw, his injury could pave the way for Cresswell to impress England boss Roy Hodgson and make his international bow.

"Hopefully, [Shaw] gets back soon but when someone goes down, there is a chance for someone else and if Cressy keeps performing and doing well I have told him already there is a chance there for him," the Hammers defender told talkSPORT.

"Roy is trying to push the youngsters forward and Cresswell is not old, he is only 25, so if he can keep performing there is definitely a chance there."

Cresswell has made eight appearances for West Ham so far this season.
