Sam Allardyce: 'West Ham United owners are patient'

Sam Allardyce insists that the West Ham United board are "patient" following rumours that he is facing the sack.

West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce has suggested that he has the full backing of the board by insisting that the owners are "patient", despite the team's current poor form.

The Hammers have picked up just 13 points from 15 games in the Premier League so far this season, leaving them one place above the relegation zone in the table.

Despite rumours that Allardyce could be edging closer to the chop, West Ham co-chairman David Gold has claimed that everyone at the club needs to "stick together".

"The supporters are frustrated," Allardyce said in a press conference. "They didn't and we didn't expect to be where we are at this moment in time.

"The owners have always shown patience when dealing with a difficult situation. It's about picking up results and the pressure will go."

West Ham will take on Sunderland at Upton Park on Saturday.
