West Ham United have a £18m bid rejected by Lyon for centre-back Marcelo, according to a report.

West Ham United have reportedly had an £18m bid rejected by Lyon for centre-back Marcelo.

The Hammers have already spent big in this summer's transfer window - bringing Felipe Anderson, Issa Diop, Andriy Yarmolenko, Lukasz Fabianski, Fabian Balbuena, Ryan Fredericks and Jack Wilshere to the club.

New head coach Manuel Pellegrini is still believed to want another centre-back, however, and Marcelo has seemingly been identified as a possible arrival.

According to the Daily Mail, the Hammers approached Lyon with an offer of £18m, but the French outfit rejected the bid for a player who only arrived at Les Gones in last summer's transfer window.

Marcelo - a former Brazil Under-20 international - scored five times in 49 appearances in all competitions for Lyon last season.
