West Ham United sign Felipe Anderson for club-record fee

West Ham United break their transfer record for the second time in a month by splashing out a reported £35m to bring in Felipe Anderson from Lazio.

West Ham United have completed the signing of Brazilian midfielder Felipe Anderson from Lazio for a club-record fee.

The 25-year-old has penned a four-year deal at the London Stadium and becomes the Hammers' seventh signing of a busy summer.

Anderson is reported to have cost West Ham £35m, rising to £42m, which surpasses the £22m paid to sign previous record signing Issa Diop less than a month ago.

One-cap Brazil international Anderson has impressed during his five seasons in Italy with Lazio, most recently scoring eight goals and assisting 10 more in 32 Serie A outings last time out.

Speaking to his new club's official website, the creative talent said: "I feel really happy and fulfilled to join West Ham United. West Ham is a club with a lot of tradition, lots of great players have played here, like Bobby Moore, Carlos Tevez and [Paulo] Di Canio.

"They were great players and idols here, and I'm aiming big, who knows, maybe I could hit their heights and be a legend here too. I'm really happy to be here. It's a dream come true.

"I want to thank the owner, David Sullivan, because he made a big effort to bring me here. I know how difficult it was, so I have to thank him a lot, and I hope I can repay his faith in me on the pitch with goals and winning games."

West Ham have also brought in Ryan Fredericks, Diop, Lukasz Fabianski, Jack Wilshere, Andriy Yarmolenko and Fabian Balbuena ahead of Manuel Pellegrini's first campaign in charge.
