Western Sydney Wanderers ease past Central Coast Mariners

Western Sydney Wanderers close the gap at the top of the A-League ladder to two points with a 2-0 win over Central Coast Mariners.

Western Sydney Wanderers have recorded a 2-0 victory over Central Coast Mariners to move to within two points of Brisbane Roar at the top of the A-League table.

Tomi Juric and Youssouf Hersi struck in the first half for the home side to ensure that they opened up a four-point gap over third place in the standings.

Wanderers started brightly at the Parramatta Stadium and it took them just 19 minutes to open the scoring, with Juric netting with an acrobatic effort from close range.

They doubled their lead 13 minutes later through Hersi, who converted Shinji Ono's cross to earn his side a comfortable advantage at the break.

Tony Popovic's outfit continued their dominance after half time, and despite not adding further goals in the second 45 minutes, they were never in danger of being pegged back by Central Coast.
