Antolin Alcaraz is reportedly facing a ban for spitting at Wolves defender Richard Stearman.

Antolin Alcaraz is reportedly facing a three-game ban for spitting at Wolves defender Richard Stearman.

The Wigan defender will be charged by the FA for improper conduct, according to The Sun.

Television footage appears to show Alcaraz spitting at Stearman during Wolves' 3-1 victory of Wigan yesterday.

"I don't think it's right for me to speak about it at the moment," Stearman said.

"I'll let other people talk about it and deal with it. I won't push for anything like an official review, it's one of those things. But it's not nice.

"It was a little bit in the heat of the moment. They're battling away down there, we're battling away. It's a big game for both of us and it's happened, but there's no place for it."

The incident came when Alcaraz went to ground after tangling with Christophe Berra with seven minutes to go.

The Paraguayan was accused of diving, which resulted in a 10-man scuffle during which Alcaraz is accused of spitting.

"There's no need for that. We shake hands after the game but you can't be spitting at people. It's not right," added Wolves midfielder Jamie O'Hara.

"That was out of order. We've done well not to react or throw a punch."

Wolves' victory moves them to 13th place in the Premier League, while Wigan remain at the bottom with five points from 11 games.
