Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Mick McCarthy brands the supporters that booed him and his team on Saturday "mindless idiots".

Mick McCarthy has described the Wolverhampton Wanderers supporters that jeered his tactical decisions during Saturday's 2-2 draw with Swansea City as "mindless idiots".

Sections of Wolves fans chanted "you're getting sacked in the morning" as McCarthy's side trailed the Swans 2-0 at Molineux and were heading for the sixth Premier League defeat in a row.

However, late goals from Kevin Doyle and Jamie O'Hara rescued a point for Wolves, although the boss was far from happy during his post-match interview.

Speaking to a press conference earlier today, the 52-year-old continued to criticise those that booed him and his team at the weekend.

"Let me clear something up. [The negative support] doesn't help. Let's not give them any credit," he told a press conference. "Let's not give any of the dissenting voices, the mindless idiots that do it, any credit whether it's aimed at me, Karl Henry, Andy Keogh or Stephen Ward.

"We've a great spirit amongst us but I always worry in saying that, in giving [the fans] some sort of back-handed compliment that they have generated a good team spirit and a siege mentality.

"They haven't. All they do is destroy it. It is destructive and no good to me or anyone else."

Wolves face Manchester City in the Carling Cup tomorrow evening.
