Half-Time Report: Nouha Dicko header helps Wolverhampton Wanderers to 2-0 half-time lead

Wolverhampton Wanderers hold a 2-0 half-time lead over Blackburn Rovers in the Championship, thanks to goals from Nouha Dicko and Bakary Sako.

Wolverhampton Wanderers' strong start to the season is poised to continue as first-half goals from Nouha Dicko and Bakary Sako have given them a 2-0 half-time lead over Blackburn Rovers in the Championship this afternoon.

After a scrappy opening exchange, it was Kevin McDonald who produced the quality to open the scoring, as he picked out lone striker Dicko to place a header into the bottom corner.

Rovers almost hit back two minutes later, but Wanderers keeper Carl Ikeme pulled off an important save to deny Ben Marshall in the top corner of goal.

The pair went into battle again just 10 minutes later. This time as Marshall let fly from distance, leaving Ikeme to scramble down low to his left to keep his side ahead.

The visitors should have restored parity before the break, only for Jordan Rhodes to nod wide of the goal despite getting his head to an inviting delivery.

Wolves made them pay for their inefficiency in the 33rd minute, as Bakary Sako swept home from a free kick with his left foot to double his side's advantage going into the interval.
