Nice are reportedly struggling to finalise a deal for Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Rayan Ait-Nouri, who is said to be one of their priority summer targets.

Nice are reportedly pushing to complete the signing of Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Rayan Ait-Nouri.

On the back of a frustrating campaign where they finished in ninth place in Ligue 1, Nice are now attempting to rebuild under new boss Francesco Farioli.

However, while four departures have occurred in the South of France, Nice are yet to make an addition ahead of the upcoming campaign.

According to French outlet SPORTS ZONE on Twitter, Les Aiglons are looking to secure a deal for Ait-Nouri as soon as possible.

The report claims that Nice have already agreed personal terms with the Algeria international, who is seemingly keen to return to French football.

Including his initial loan stint, Ait-Nouri has spent the last three seasons at Molineux, making a total of 78 appearances in all competitions.

In that period, four goals and eight assists have been contributed in all competitions, but the left-sided player has fallen down the pecking order under Julen Lopetegui.

During the final three months of 2022-23, Ait Nouri made just three outings, his game time coming in defeats away at Liverpool, Newcastle United and Arsenal respectively.

Over the past week, the 22-year-old has played 14 minutes of the 1-0 win over Porto and featured for the second half as Wolves drew with Celtic on Saturday.

Nevertheless, at a time when Wolves are known to need to generate funds to meet FFP criteria, it is plausible that the Premier League outfit will be open to a sale.

That said, a report in Footmercato says that reaching a compromise over a transfer fee is proving to be 'complicated', leaving Nice having to consider alternatives.

While Wolves paid £9.5m for Ait-Nouri two years ago, Angers requested that a substantial sell-on clause, allegedly 50%, be included in the proposal.

If that was the case, Wolves would effectively have to sell Ait-Nouri for £19m in order to break-even on the player, something which is unlikely given his current status at the club.
