Half-Time Report: Tom Pope brace gives Port Vale the lead

Tom Pope's brace gives Port Vale a 2-0 lead at half time against Yeovil Town.

Tom Pope's brace has given Port Vale a 2-0 lead at half time against Yeovil Town.

Pope gave the home side the lead on 18 minutes when he converted Mark Marshall's cross with a header.

The striker then doubled the advantage just before the half-hour mark when he reacted quickest to Chris Lines's corner to score from close range.

Mark Marshall almost made it 3-0 towards the end of the half when he won the ball back in midfield before sending a well-struck effort wide of the post after he had earlier gone close with a left-footed effort that whistled wide.
