Zenit St Petersburg coach Andre Villas-Boas has employed a "nauseating" style of play that is "anti-football", according to one of the club's former players.
The ex-Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur boss, 37, led Zenit to the Russian Premier League in his first full season there.
However Boris Chukhlov, who won the Soviet title with Zenit in 1984, told BBC Sport: "Zenit play boring football.
"The side is showing anti-football, which basically boils down to giving the ball as quickly as possible to Hulk or Danny. They score a goal and then the defenders start hoofing the ball. It is boring and nauseating."
Villas-Boas led Porto to a cup treble in the 2010-11 season before his sojourn in the Premier League.
