Lewis Hamilton has admitted that he is "very happy" after finishing in second place in qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix.
The Brit's Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg claimed pole position for Sunday's race, while reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel will start behind Hamilton.
"I didn't expect to be here," Hamilton is quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "I've been struggling all weekend. The first time I've had that in Monaco. I'm very happy to be here and lock out the front row."
Hamilton's only previous triumph at the Monaco Grand Prix came in 2008 on his way to winning the World Championship.
