Phil Mickelson has described his final round of 66 at the Open Championship as "one of the best" of his career.
The American got his hands on the Claret Jug for the first time at Muirfield after coming from five shots back to win his fifth Major title.
In his acceptance speech, the 43-year-old thanked wife Amy, caddie Jim 'Bones' Mackay and coach Butch Harmon for their support over the years.
"This was a day I'll remember my entire life," said Mickelson. "It was one of the best rounds of golf I've every played. To share it with Amy (wife), my main man Bones (caddie) and Butch Harmon (coach) it just makes this moment even more special.
"I want to thank them for the support they've given me throughout my career. I could not be more proud to be your champion.
"I never knew whether I would be equipped, have the shots, have the opportunity to do this. And to break through and capture this Claret Jug is one of the most fulfilling moments of my career."
Mickelson becomes the first man to win the Scottish Open and the Open Championship back to back.
