Rickie Fowler comes through a three-way playoff to win the Rocket Mortgage Classic, sealing his first PGA Tour title in over four years.

Rickie Fowler has converted his recent resurgence into a PGA Tour win, claiming the Rocket Mortgage Classic in a three-way playoff.

The American has finished between fifth and 13th in his last four starts, squandering an opportunity to win last month's US Open.

However, Fowler ended a four-year and four-month wait for another PGA Tour title by edging out Collin Morikawa and Adam Hadwin at the first extra hole.

Fowler had led the event heading into the final round but it took a birdie on the final hole to card a 68, allowing Morikawa and Hadwin to join him on 24-under-par with rounds of 64 and 67 respectively.

Of the three, Fowler looked on the verge of elimination after his tee shot on the first playoff hole strayed left, but he responded with a stunning approach that finished 12 feet from the hole.

After Hadwin had missed from a similar range, Fowler found the right-hand side of the cup to cement his status as one of the form players in the sport.

Taylor Moore, Lucas Glover and Peter Kuest all finished three shots adrift in a tie for fourth, with Adam Schenk and Justin Lower completing the top eight.

England's Aaron Rai was one of five players to finish in a share of ninth, while Canada's Taylor Pendrith had to make do with a tie for 14th after being well placed towards the top of the leaderboard after round three.
