Charl Schwartzel holds a one-shot lead after the first round of the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village in Ohio.
The South African started on the back nine and was one-under before dropping a shot at the 13th, but then went on a birdie streak - making four in a row - to go out in 35.
Another blitz of four birdies from the fourth hole saw him get to eight-under-par, but a double bogey at the eighth curtailed his momentum. He recovered with a birdie at the last to card 65 and finish on seven-under-par.
Scott Piercy is leading the chase on six-under after shooting a 66, which included a dropped shot at the 18th. Josh Teater, Russell Henley, Kyle Stanley and Charlie Wi are all on five-under.
Justin Rose (-2) and Martin Laird (-1) were the only British players to finish under par, while Tiger Woods (-1) struggled for consistency, dropping shots at the 12th, 15th and 18th having birdied the previous hole.
It was not a good day for Lee Westwood and Rory McIlroy, who shot four-over and six-over respectively.
