Henrik Stenson tightens grip on TOUR Championship

Henrik Stenson is four shots clear of nearest challenger Dustin Johnson heading into the final round of the TOUR Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta.

Henrik Stenson has remained on course for victory at the TOUR Championship at the end of the third round at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta.

The Swede, who will land a $10m (£6.2m) windfall if he completes a wire-to-wire victory tomorrow, carded a one-under-par round of 69 to lead Dustin Johnson by four shots.

Adam Scott has seen his hopes of winning dashed by a disastrous front nine, in which he went out in five-over-par. A birdie at 17 did nothing to ease his frustration at playing himself out of contention.

Steve Stricker is in third place on his own on five-under, while Zach Johnson, Billy Horschel, Jordan Spieth and Justin Rose are a shot further back.

The best round of the day belonged to US PGA Champion Jason Dufner, who dragged himself back to level-par for the championship thanks to a four-under 66.

Luke Donald, Brandt Snedeker and D. Johnson all went three-under for their third rounds.
