Rory McIlroy: 'Greens more like cauliflower'

Rory McIlroy jokingly follows up Henrik Stenson's 'brocolli comment' by likening the greens at Chambers Bay to cauliflower.

Rory McIlroy has described the greens at Chambers Bay as "like cauliflower" after a third-round 70 left him four-over-par at the US Open.

The world number one needed 31 putts to hit level-par for the day, and jokingly followed up Henrik Stenson's likening of the greens to broccoli.

"I don't think they're as green as broccoli. I think they're more like cauliflower," said McIlroy, according to Sky Sports News.

"Whenever you start to miss a couple you start to get a little tentative. You start to doubt yourself. You start to doubt the greens a little bit."

McIlroy is eight shots behind Jason Day, Jordan Spieth, Dustin Johnson and Branden Grace, who all share the lead going into the final day.
