Liverpool reportedly make a decision over whether they are prepared to loan out Jarell Quansah during the summer transfer window.

Liverpool reportedly make a decision on the short-term future of defender Jarell Quansah.

On the back of a loan stint with Bristol Rovers in 2022-23, Quansah was promoted to the senior setup by then-manage Jurgen Klopp.

Since then, the academy graduate has gone on to make a total of 53 appearances for the Merseyside giants in all competitions, contributing three goals and three assists.

However, since being withdrawn by Arne Slot in his first competitive game in charge, Quansah has struggled to earn regular minutes for the Premier League leaders.

In fact, just a further three starts have come in England's top flight and the Champions League, emphasising where Quansah currently finds himself in the pecking order at Anfield.

Liverpool 'make Quansah decision'

According to Football Insider, Liverpool are open-minded to allowing Quansah spend the 2025-26 campaign away from the club.

Former scout Mick Brown, a regular contributor to the outlet, suggests that it is "definitely possible" that Quansah will take on a new challenge, even if it is in the short term.

Brown said: "Liverpool are planning to sign a new centre-back, but if they do that, you have to ask questions about where Quansah fits in.

"He's been their third or fourth choice centre-half for the last couple of years and has come into the side, but that hasn't happened as much this season.

"If they're not going to rely on Quansah to come into the team, he's going to question his role. It's definitely possible that he leaves the club on loan in the summer.

"Liverpool like him and think he's got a lot of potential so they won't want to let him leave permanently, so a loan could be best for all parties."

A complex situation?

While it may make some sense for Quansah to move elsewhere, it should not be viewed as a foregone conclusion when fellow versatile defender Joe Gomez may also wish to take on a new challenge.

Furthermore, Liverpool currently face the prospect of losing homegrown talent Caoimhin Kelleher and Trent Alexander-Arnold, something which would impact registration rules.

Should they leave the club, Slot would be left with Conor Bradley, Tyler Morton, James McConnell, Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott as his homegrown options. Liverpool need a minimum of four for their Champions League squad.

Morton and McConnell could plausibly be sold or go out on loan, while Elliott may require more starting opportunities to extend his contract past 2027.
