Rayderley Miguel Zapata Santana has admitted that he is shocked to have won European Games gold in the men's floor exercise this afternoon.
The Spaniard scored 15.333 at the National Gymnastics Arena to take top spot ahead of Germany's Fabian Hambuechen and David Belyavskiy of the Russian Federation.
Santana was lost for words after first place was confirmed, claiming that he did not anticipate winning the event's first gold medal at this inaugural competition.
"Right now I have no words to describe this moment," he told reporters. "I was not expecting to win the gold medal. But I was fighting for this medal and I got it.
"When I did the last diagonal and it was perfect I felt good. But you never know what is going to happen until the end of the competition. At the beginning I was really nervous but now I am relaxed. I did what I came to do here and I had worked very hard for this."
Spain have now won four gold medals at Baku 2015.
