Beth Tweddle backs Dan Purvis to perform at World Championships in Glasgow

Beth Tweddle backs Dan Purvis to perform well for Great Britain when the team compete at the World Gymnastics Championships in Glasgow next month.

Olympic bronze medallist Beth Tweddle has predicted that Great Britain's Dan Purvis will perform at the World Gymnastics Championships in Glasgow next month.

The Scotsman, who took team bronze at the 2010 Worlds in Rotterdam, will join his fellow Brits at the SSE Hydro, which staged the gymnastics competition at the Commonwealth Games last year.

"If you asked Dan, he would probably say that he didn't have as good an Olympic Games as he could have, but over the past year we've seen the old Dan Purvis back," Tweddle told the Herald Scotland.

"He looks so much happier in the gym and in training so hopefully he's on the road back up and we'll see how well he can do in front of a home crowd."

The Championships will run from October 23 to November 1.
