A car advert in Brazil has launched a jibe at Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa for his decision to snub the national team for Spain.

The 25-year-old, who was born in Brazil, gained Spanish citizenship in the summer and opted to represent the country of his current home as opposed to the South American nation.

In response to his decision, an advertisement for Volkswagon has used the tagline, 'unlike Diego Costa, this car fills Brazilians with pride,' on the print ad, according to 101greatgoals.com.

The radio version reportedly has Brazil leading Spain 1-0 in the World Cup final, but Costa has the chance to draw level with a penalty for Spain.

In the advert, Costa misses the penalty, resulting in Brazil being crowned world champions, with the commentator shouting, "suck on that Diego Costa!".
