Chelsea fined by FA for failing to control players against Huddersfield Town

Chelsea accept a Football Association charge of failing to control their players in their Premier League home game against Huddersfield Town and are handed a fine.

Chelsea have been fined £20,000 by the Football Association after accepting a charge of failing to control their players in their Premier League home game against Huddersfield Town.

The Blues were angered when referee Lee Mason awarded them a corner, but then adjudged the required stoppage time to have elapsed and blew for half time before Willian was able to take the set piece.

Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta, midfielder Cesc Fabregas and defender Antonio Rudiger led the protests, the latter having to be dragged away by assistant coach Carlo Cudicini, who also addressed Mason.

"Chelsea have been fined £20,000 after accepting a charge for failing to ensure their players and/or officials conducted themselves in an orderly fashion," read an FA statement.

"The incident occurred at half-time during the game against Huddersfield Town on Wednesday, May 9."

The 1-1 draw against the Terriers played a part in Chelsea missing out on Champions League qualification, Antonio Conte's side ending the season fifth in the table.
