FA 'forced to bin 4,000 Big Sam T-shirts'

The FA is reportedly forced to scrap 4,000 'Big Sam' T-shirts following Sam Allardyce's dismissal as England manager.

The FA has reportedly been forced to scrap 4,000 'Big Sam' T-shirts that it had planned to hand out out to fans attending England's World Cup qualifier with Malta at Wembley next month.

The shirts were part of a £40,000 celebration to mark Sam Allardyce's first home game as England manager and came emblazoned with the quote "The journey starts with us all pulling together", which was made by Allardyce upon his appointment to the role in July.

Allardyce was relieved from his post last night after secret footage emerged showing him offering advice on how to "get around" third-party transfer rules and negotiating a £400,000 deal to represent a Far East firm.

According to The Sun, the FA had also intended for fans to hold up a giant mosaic as part of the celebrations, but that too has been scrapped in favour of a more low-key affair.

Gareth Southgate will now take charge of the game against the Mediterranean minnows on October 8.
