Liverpool owner John Henry and chairman Tom Werner will be in attendance for the annual Hillsborough memorial at Anfield.

Today marks the 24th anniversary of the tragedy, which claimed the lives of 96 Reds fans during an FA Cup semi-final between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest at the Hillsborough stadium.

Manager Brendan Rodgers and the club's players are expected to attend the service at 2.45pm to pay tribute to the fallen and their families.

"We'll have our owners over for the event this year," managing director Ian Ayre told the Liverpool Echo. "It's always important that people at the club show their support for everybody. I am sure everyone will do that on the day.

"Our role at the club right from the event itself has always been to be supportive - supportive of the families, supportive of the fans and supportive of the process. That continues and will always continue. As far as the families are concerned, we're always there for them."

A minute's silence will be held at 3.06pm, which was the time the semi-final was abandoned back in 1989.
