Andrew Robertson sends Roberto Firmino shirt to young Liverpool fan

Liverpool left-back Andrew Robertson sends a signed Roberto Firmino shirt to a young fan who donated his pocket money to a food bank.

Liverpool left-back Andrew Robertson decided to reward a young fan's kind gesture by sending a signed Roberto Firmino shirt to him.

Seven-year-old Alfie Radford caught the Scotsman's attention by donating his pocket money to a food bank on Merseyside.

The youngster handed over the cash at a supermarket while on his way to Anfield for Tuesday night's goalless draw with Porto in the last 16 of the Champions League.

As a reward, Robertson, who has cemented the left-back spot in Jurgen Klopp's team following a slow start, sent Alfie a personal letter and a match-worn shirt signed by Firmino.

According to The Telegraph, Robertson wrote: "I remember from being your age just how important pocket money is and how there's hundreds of things you could have bought for yourself with it. For you to give that up for people who are having a tough time and need some help to get by is absolutely amazing.

"Let me tell you now, that is brilliant from you and sets an example to the rest of the us that showing a little care and thought for others is really important - it's also very Liverpool!

"I've got one of Roberto Firmino's match shirts from this season and asked him to sign it for you, by way of a thank you for what you did for the food banks. Let's be honest Alfie - no-one wants the left back's shirt - which is why I got you Bobby's instead. Hope that's okay."

Robertson is expected to be in the first XI for this Saturday's Premier League showdown against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
