Anti-racism chief backs Patrick Viera

Football Against Racism in Europe executive director Piara Powar believes that Manchester City abandoning a match because of a racism allegation will "create change".

Football Against Racism in Europe executive director Piara Powar has said that Patrick Viera's decision to abandon an under-21 match where a player was allegedly racially abused will "create change".

The Manchester City youth coach pulled his players out of a match against Croatian side Rijeka earlier this week when midfielder Seko Fofana claimed that he was the victim of racism.

"The message it sends out is categorical. It is just the sort of thing which will create change," the Daily Mail quotes Powar as saying.

Rijeka have strongly denied the allegations.
