A number of West Bromwich Albion supporters have reportedly been seen making airplane gestures towards their Manchester United counterparts at The Hawthorns this afternoon.
Back in 1958, a plane carrying the United team back from a European Cup tie in Belgrade crashed on the runway at Munich airport, where it had stopped to refuel. It claimed the lives of 23 people, including a number of United players.
It has been reported by numerous journalists on Twitter who are at today's match that a section of West Brom fans made the gestures shortly after their side had fallen 2-0 behind.
"Few aeroplane signs from WBA fans, flares and angry gestures in Utd end. Stewards now very visible," wrote PA Sport journalist Simon Stoney.
Meanwhile, The Telegraph's Henry Winter added: "A few #wba fans now doing airplane gestures at #mufc fans. Good atmosphere souring."
It is believed that the police and stewards are currently dealing with the matter. You can follow live updates of the match here.
