Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal suffered an embarrassing blunder when he called defender Chris Smalling "Mike" during a press conference in California on Monday.
The Dutchman sat alongside his player to address the media prior to tonight's pre-season friendly against San Jose Earthquakes.
While discussing club captain Wayne Rooney, Van Gaal also mentioned vice-captain Michael Carrick and last season's third skipper "Mike" Smalling.
A reporter decided to correct the 63-year-old, while Smalling laughed off the blunder.
