Louis van Gaal has no injury fears over Wayne Rooney's Everton return

Manchester United's Louis van Gaal says that he is not concerned about potential injury to Wayne Rooney, who will play in Duncan Ferguson's Everton testimonial next week.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has not expressed concern over Wayne Rooney's decision to play for former club Everton in a testimonial match for Duncan Ferguson next week.

The Red Devils captain, who began his career at Everton, will once again wear the blue of the Merseyside club in a testimonial game on August 2.

Despite Rooney increasing the risk of injury by adding another game to his pre-season schedule, Van Gaal has not displayed any concerns as he told reporters: "Yeah, he can also fall off the stairs. That's my answer."

United will begin their Premier League campaign on August 8 against Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford.
