Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton has been named the BBC Sports Personality of the Year at a ceremony in Glasgow.
Hamilton was honoured just weeks after beating Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg to his second world title at the end of a record-breaking season for the 29-year-old.
Rory McIlroy came second in the voting in a year which saw the world number one win both the Open Championship and the US PGA Championship, and European 10,000m champion Jo Pavey completed the top three.
Earlier in the ceremony, six-time Olympic champion Sir Chris Hoy was given the Lifetime Achievement award, while Cristiano Ronaldo was named the Overseas Sports Personality of the Year.
There was also recognition for Europe's victorious Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley as the Irishman claimed Coach of the Year.
England women's Rugby Union side were named Team of the Year after triumphing at the World Cup, and Claudia Fragapane clinched the Young Sports Personality of the Year after the 17-year-old won four gold medals at the Commonwealth Games.
