A footballer playing in India's Mizoram Premier League has passed away after he landed on his head during a goal celebration.
Peter Biaksangzula was rushed to Aizawl Civil Hospital, where it was discovered that he had severely damaged his spinal cord.
The 23-year-old attempted a somersault after scoring a 62nd-minute equaliser for Bethlehem Vengthlang FC against Chanmari West FC during last Tuesday's game.
The midfielder, who was stretchered off the pitch after falling on his head, lost his life after spending five days in intensive care, according to the Daily Mail.
As a mark of respect, the club have decided to retire his number 21 shirt.
