Former England footballer Paul Gascoigne has insisted that he has recovered from a relapse in his battle with alcoholism.
The 48-year-old has struggled with addiction for years and last week his management company confirmed that he had a "bad week" after being pictured with cuts on his face.
Gascoigne has now reached out on social media to insist that he is "back on track" and described his relapse as a "blip".
A message on Facebook read: "Hi everyone, thanks so much for all your support. u would think they would leave me alone but it is good sometimes being famous. I've done really well for 11 mths , I have one blip and I get hammered for it. I'm back on track now. I'm not perfect and don't want to be either but I am trying my best always. I love YOUS all. lots of love GAZZA X"
