Oscar Pistorius, who is charged with the murder of his girlfriend, is successful in having bail conditions relaxed.

Paralympic champion Oscar Pistorius has succeeded in his bid to have numerous bail conditions altered after he was charged with the premeditated murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

The 26-year-old, who is accused of killing the South African model by firing four gunshots through a bathroom door on Valentine's Day, was represented by his lawyers in High Court today to fight against the bail conditions.

While Pistorius was originally forced to seize his passport when charged with murder, the High Court judge has ruled that the double amputee will be able to have access to his passport under certain conditions.

The South African's lawyers claimed that Pistorius will want to compete internationally in the future, of which the court has granted.

Pistorius, who made history by becoming the first disabled athlete to compete at both the Olympic and Paralympic Games last summer, has been allowed to return to his home in Pretoria, where Steenkamp was killed.

The judge overturned the restrictions by stating that the initial bail conditions were imposed as if Pistorius had already been handed a guilty verdict.
